This two-hour training is designed to help clinicians and community members support and uplift trans, nonbinary, and gender nonconforming (TGNC) clients through a lens of trans joy. Grounded in lived experience and principles of narrative therapy, this training will center a strength-based approach in supporting TGNC youth to counter negative messaging and internalized transphobia.
Participants will learn strategies to counter this negative messaging and reframe TGNC identities from something hard and challenging to something that can be both hard and beautiful. Topics will include practical activities to use during clinical sessions or community support, as well as ways to help center euphoria, joy, and community in the TGNC experience.
This course meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs, and LEPs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Professionals licensed in other states, individuals in other professions, and international participants may be able to use the certificate of completion toward their continuing education or professional development requirements. Participants are responsible for verifying acceptance of the course and certificate with their applicable licensing or professional board, state or jurisdiction, and/or country.
